Brooks Brothers x Engineered Garments - A Reimagining of American Formalwear
(New York, NY – October 22, 2025) — Brooks Brothers, America’s oldest clothing brand, has joined forces with Engineered Garments for a new collaboration that reinterprets formalwear through the lens of Engineered Garments’ signature design philosophy.
Brooks Brothers’ 200-year legacy of innovation and timeless American style was a perfect match for Engineered Garments’ approach to asymmetry, function, and purpose. For designer Daiki Suzuki, the collaboration was both personal and professional: “It’s a brand I’ve known and loved since my youth, one whose history, iconic creations, style, and philosophy all deeply resonate with me,” Suzuki said.
The project began with a conversation between Suzuki, Brooks Brothers CEO Ken Ohashi and Creative Director MichaelBastian who suggested exploring a new direction outside of Engineered Garments’ signature casualwear. “That comment served as the trigger for this project,” Suzuki explained. “The goal was to create a new interpretation of formalwear that balances the seemingly opposing extremes of formality and casual ease.”
Developed for the Brooks Brothers Black Fleece label and drawing inspiration from his past work in occasion clothing, Suzuki reimagined Brooks Brothers classics with unexpected details and his unique perspective. The collection features a denim tuxedo jacket with satin-peaked lapels, paired with relaxed-fit, wide-leg trousers in a utilitarian cut, as well as denim and Oxford cravat shirts – a reference to a Brooks Brothers shirt from the 1960’s called the Clarney. His lifelong admiration for Brooks Brothers’ countess innovations, from the No. 1 Sack Suit and Oxford shirt to cordovan loafers, shaped this collaboration, which reflects both his personal connection to the brand and his desire to evolve its most iconic staples.
“Brooks Brothers has always honored its heritage while finding ways to evolve American style,” said Ohashi. “Remarkably, over the last two centuries, innovation has been as much a part of the brand as tradition – and this is particularly true of our formal clothing, like dinner jackets and furnishings. Partnering with Daiki and Engineered Garments allowed us to explore formalwear codes in an entirely new light—mixing tradition with unexpected creativity in a way that feels both authentic and fresh.”
The limited-edition Brooks Brothers x Engineered Garments collection will be available on October 22nd at the Brooks Brothers global flagship, 195 Broadway, brooksbrothers.com and nepenthesny.com
